Taliban has killed Mehsud’s family members for spying on him: Malik

Islamabad, Aug.23 (ANI): Pakistan Interior Advisor Rehman Malik has said that the Taliban have killed some of the family members of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) chief Baitullah Mehsud as revenge for his death in a US drone strike earlier this month.
“The Taliban insurgents have killed Baitullah Mehsud’s father-in-law and some other people on suspicion of their involvement in the killing of their former chief,” The News quoted Malik, as saying.
Earlier, Malik termed media reports regarding the entry of 50 suicide bombers in Islamabad as baseless and ordered an inquiry into the issue.
Malik ordered all the provincial governments and Islamabad Capital Territory Police to enhance security in and around all strategic buildings in the city and provide fool proof security to the people.
Reacting to the reports of Hakeemullah Mehsud being appointed as the new chief of the TTP, Malik said whoever leads the terror outfit will be considered a terrorist.
He said that the person claiming to be Hakeemullah will soon be exposed, and claimed that the government has obtained the ‘DNA’ of Hakeemullah and is verifying it for further action. (ANI)
