- Kathmandu, Dec. 28 (ANI): Three more bodies were recovered on Friday from the Bheri River suspension bridge collapse site at Shobhaghat near Mehlkuna bazaar in Surket district, raising the death toll to 20.
According to a Kantipur report, the bodies of two women and a child were found three kilometers west of the bridge at Jahare. The bodies have not been identified, the police said.
Over 300 people were estimated to have been on the bridge to mark the full moon festival when the tragedy occurred. The site is located 40 kilometers northwest of Surkhet district headquarters.
The heavily-crowded bridge is reported to have collapsed after a support pillar at one end could not withstand the weight. (ANI)
