Sikh pilgrims in Lahore for Guru Nanak’s death annivesary
September 22nd, 2009 - 4:09 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Lahore, Sep 22 (IANS) A group of 379 Sikh devotees from India have arrived here for ceremonies to mark the 470th death anniversary of Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism, the world’s youngest religion.
The ‘jatha’, under the aegis of Sikh apex body Shiromani Gurudwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC), will visit Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib situated in Narowal district of Pakistan’s Punjab province, Geo TV reported.
The pilgrims will also visit other historical Sikh shrines, including Punja Sahib, Dera Sahib, Nankana Sahib, Sacha Saudah Sahib and Rohri Sahib, before returning home Sep 28.
Speaking to reporters on their arrival here, the devotees urged the governments of both Pakistan and India to abolish the visas regime for pilgrimages.
