Siachen avalanche: Two more bodies found
June 5th, 2012 - 2:40 pm ICT by IANSIslamabad, June 5 (IANS) The bodies of two more Pakistani soldiers were found Tuesday in the Siachen glacier’s Gayari area, taking the number of bodies recovered after the devastating April 7 avalanche to six, Geo News reported.
As many as 139 people, most of them soldiers, as also some civilians, were buried under the huge snow slide on the Siachen glacier, the world’s highest battleground where the guns of the Pakistani and Indian armies have been silent since a truce in 2003.
On May 29, Pakistan declared that all those buried in the avalanche were dead.
All the were declared “martyrs” by the Pakistani army.
The first body was recovered May 27.
