Karachi, Oct 12 (ANI): The Sindh High Court (SHC) has reserved its judgment for two days over a petition seeking to initiate a high treason trial against former President Pervez Musharraf.
A division bench of the court, headed by SHC Chief Justice Sarmad Jalal Usmani, was hearing the petition by Maulvi Iqbal Haider, the Dawn reported.
In his petition, Haider contended that a case should be filed against Musharraf under Article 6 of the Constitution.
The petition accused Musharraf of violating the constitution, illegal usage of national resources, damaging the federation and soiling the state’s reputation. The court will announce its verdict on Thursday.
In the previous hearing, the petitioner had requested the court for Musharraf’s repatriation, on which, the court had directed the Interior Secretary to ensure that the former general was receiving the court’s orders.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has also issued a 16-point charge sheet against Musharraf, demanding that the former president be brought back through Interpol and tried under Article 6 of the constitution, a TV channel has reported. (ANI)
