Washington , May 30 (ANI): Sharon Stone has apologised for her recent bad karma comment on the Chinese earthquake, insisting that she is deeply sorry for hurting the sentiments of billions of people.
In a statement released by cosmetic giant Christian Dior, which dropped her from its Chinese ads, the Basic Instinct actress has said that she is deeply sorry about the comment she made on the red carpet at Cannes Film Festival.
“Due to my inappropriate words and acts during the interview, I feel deeply sorry and sad about hurting Chinese people. I am willing to take part in the relief work of China ’s earthquake, and wholly devote myself to helping affected Chinese people,” Usmagazine.com quoted the actress, as saying in the statement.
In the controversial statement, the 50-year-old actress had linked the natural disaster, claiming at least 65,000 lives, to Beijing ’s policy on Tibet .
“This earthquake … happened, and then I thought, ‘Is that karma? When you’re not nice that the bad things happen to you?’” she told Hong Kong’s Cable Entertainment News, at Cannes . (ANI)
