Sharif not to appeal against rejection of his nominationsDecember 4th, 2007 - 6:30 pm ICT by admin
Lahore, Dec 4 (ANI): Former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has decided not to file an appeal against the rejection of his nomination papers.
“I will not file appeal against the rejection of nomination papers because the judges who will give the decision are loyal to an individual instead of Constitution and the law,” he told lawyers at the Haripur District Bar Association.
Sharif reiterated his demand of withdrawal of emergency, The News reported.
The Pakistan Election Commission has barred Sharif from contesting the January 8 general elections.
Though the reason for the rejection of his nomination papers has not been made public, reports suggest that Sharif’s papers were rejected on the ground of cases pending against him, including the plane-hijacking case that followed the 1999 bloodless military coup by the then Army Chief, General Pervez Musharraf.
