S.Arabia gives Rs 3 crore to Pak to redress Haj pilgrims’ grievances
April 20th, 2011 - 2:48 pm ICT by ANIIslamabad, April 20(ANI): Saudi Arabia has given three crore rupees to Pakistan’s Religious Affairs Ministry as compensation for problems faced by Pakistani pilgrims during last year’s Haj.
The sum was to be paid by parliamentarians and journalists who had performed Haj free of cost, the Dawn reports.
The Saudi Government has given the amount to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and the Religious Affairs Ministry.
Sources said Riyadh deposited the amount at the request of Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik.
Investigations have also been undertaken in Pakistan to expose the culprits of last year’s Haj scandal. Former Religious Affairs Minister Hamid Saeed Kazmi and a number ofofficials have been arrested and interrogated in this regard. (ANI)
