SAARC nations resolve to cooperate with each other against terrorism
June 25th, 2010 - 8:06 pm ICT by ANIIslamabad, June 25 (ANI): South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) nations on Friday resolved to cooperate with each other as part of their endeavour to eradicate the menace of terrorism.
Speaking to media persons after the meeting of Home Secretaries of SAARC countries, Pakistan’s Home Secretary Qamar Zaman Chaudhry, said: “Every member state expressed this resolve over the issue, that this is a menace for the entire region and for eradicating this menace as quickly as possible we will cooperate with each other. I believe that expression of this resolution today will greatly help in eradicating terrorism.”
The meeting of the Home Secretaries of SAARC members was organized today ahead of the meeting of the Home Ministers of the eight member countries, scheduled to be held on Saturday (June 26).
In April, the Prime Ministers and Foreign Ministers of the SAARC nations met in Bhutan during the 16th SAARC summit.
India and Pakistan along with Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, the Maldives, Bangladesh and Afghanistan make up the regional cooperation group–SAARC. (ANI)
