Islamabad, Jan. 5 (ANI): Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said that New Delhi’s animosity-coated policies for Islamabad are the “biggest” obstacles in the way of peace and prosperity in South Asia.

“India continues to pursue its dangerous ambition to become the regional hegemon. It is India’s relentless nuclear and conventional pursuits that are a factor of instability in the region,” the Daily Times quoted Qureshi, as saying.

Qureshi also rubbished Indian External Affairs Minister SM Krishna’s remarks on China’s association with Pakistan and the two countries’ “activities in Kashmir”.

He also expressed concern over India’s plan to spend around 50 billion dollars on state-of-the-art defence acquisitions over next three-to-four years.

Qureshi said the recent statements by the Indian Army chief on a two-front war with China and Pakistan were based on a naive “cold start” strategy, and the international community must take notice of such “jingoistic, belligerent and dangerous war doctrines that are a recipe for self-destruction”.

Qureshi also expressed concern over India’s inflexibility in resolving bilateral disputes, especially the Jammu and Kashmir issue.

He said India’s “unreasonable stance” over the composite dialogue process was only helping the cause of those who wanted the region to remain caught up in conflict and poverty. (ANI)
