Qureshi does not deserve to be foreign minister: BJP
July 16th, 2010 - 4:23 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, July 16 (IANS) Calling India-Pakistan talks a “non-starter”, BJP leader and former foreign minister Yashwant Sinha Friday lashed out at Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi’s hostile remarks, saying he did not deserve his job.
“The talks have been a non-starter,” Sinha told Times Now, a day after the talks between India and Pakistan deadlocked on the issue of terror.
“I can bet Pakistan will never catch Hafiz Saeed because he is a part of the ISI,” Sinha said while referring to Pakistan’s vacillation over taking action against Saeed, the suspected mastermind of the Mumbai attacks.
Sinha slammed Qureshi’s remarks to the press in Islamabad where he accused India of being selective in focusing on terror and took a dig at Krishna, insinuating he was taking calls from New Delhi during their talks Thursday night.
“Qureshi does not deserve to be the foreign minister, not even a second secretary in the diplomatic mission,” an angry Sinha said.
“It was a breach of protocol. I am sure he (Qureshi) would not have done so without the knowledge of the Pakistani prime minister and president,” said Sinha.
“There is no point in carrying on the dialogue further.”
In his interaction with the Pakistani media, Qureshi revived the hardline approach on Jammu and Kashmir and accused India of human rights violations and selective approach towards terrorism.
