Kathmandu, Mar 17 (ANI): Nepalese Police on Monday arrested at least two dozen Tibetan refugees in Kathmandu, who were protesting in front of the UN office against what they call brutal clampdown of pro-independence demonstrations in Lhasa by China.

Some 100 refugees had reached the UN office to stage demonstration, demanding that the UN take note of the suppression in Lhasa.

Police baton-charged them and took those arrested away in trucks.

Tibetans had staged a major demonstration in Bouddha on Mar 10, marking the 49th anniversary of the Dalai Lama’s escape to India after an unsuccessful uprising in the Tibetan capital of Lhasa.

According to media reports, around 100 people have been killed during demonstrations in Lhasa.

The Nepal Government has repeatedly clarified that it supports the ‘one China’ policy and that no anti-China activities will be allowed on Nepali soil, reported. (ANI)
