Islamabad, Apr 11 (ANI): The Pakistan Foreign Office has started preparations for Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir’s crucial visit to Washington, starting from April 20, to mend strained relations between the two countries.

The Nation quoted official sources as saying that both Washington and Islamabad would struggle to limit their differences to resume the bilateral strategic dialogue, and also trilateral meetings on Afghanistan.

On being asked if Director General Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lieutenant-General Ahmed Shuja Pasha would accompany Bashir, Foreign Office Spokesperson Janjua said: “It is yet to be decided whether Salman Bashir would go alone or would lead a delegation.”

Bilateral relations between the US and Pakistan soured following the March 17 drone attacks on a peace congregation in North Waziristan Agency.

The Raymond Davis episode, a CIA contractor who shot dead two Pakistanis on January 27, has also played a major role in creating tension in both countries. Consequently, Pakistan had to evolve a new visa policy for foreign visitors to ensure that no harm was done to the country’s national security. (ANI)
