The PPP formally contacted Fabrice Aidan, an assistant to the special envoy to the United Nations Secretary-General, with the request.

We have contacted Aidan who took charge of the UN Commission that investigated Rafiq Hariris murder in Lebanon. I am in touch with him, the Daily Times quoted PPP Central Leader Begum Abida Hussain, as saying.

She also said, We will present our case before the UN with full preparation. Our contact with Aidan is a step towards this end.

She further added that Benazir Bhuttos lawyer Farooq H Naik would formally submit the PPP request for investigation into Bhuttos assassination with the UN secretary-general at Washington.

A three-member committee comprising Naik, Abida Hussian and Latif Khoosa is expected to draft the party request for a UN inquiry into the assassination of Bhutto today, PPP sources said.

The formal request, would mention examples of the UN investigations into some cases of international importance, like Hariri murder case in Lebanon. (ANI)
