Islamabad, Sep.30 (ANI): The Pakistan Muslim League- Quaid (PML-Q) has opposed the investigation of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto’s assassination case by a UN enquiry commission.
PML-Q Secretary General Mushahid Hussain said his party had always opposed investigation by a UN team, as it was the country’s internal matter.
“Engaging the UN commission for investigating Benazir’s assassination was a clear statement that the government did not trust the performance of the country’s law enforcement and investigation agencies,” The Daily Times quoted Hussain, as saying.
Earlier, the three-member UN commission met several Pakistani political leaders including Interior Minister Rehman Malik to collect more information about the incident.
During the meeting, Malik apprised the commission about the development made by the Pakistani officials in the case.
The team also called on Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, PML-Q Secretary General Mushahid Hussain and Senator Khalid Ranjha.
The team also met acting President Farooq Naik in connection with the probe. (ANI)
