‘Patient’ Al-Qaeda ‘determined’ to use WMD’s against US: Ex-CIA official
January 27th, 2010 - 12:57 pm ICT by ANI ( Leave a comment )Washington, Jan.27 (ANI): The world’s most wanted terrorist Osama-bin Laden led Al-Qaeda group has not given up its plans of wreaking havoc in the United States through weapons of mass destruction (WMD’s) and is infact working intensively on its ‘ultimate goal’.
According to a report by a former CIA official, Rolf Mowatt-Larssen, Al-Qaeda’s leadership is determined to attack America with a chemical, biological or even nuclear weapons.
“They (Al-Qaeda commanders) are determined and patient, willing to wait for years to acquire the kind of weapons that could inflict widespread casualties,” The Washington Post quoted the report, as saying.
Larssen, who once led the CIA’s massive hunt for the WMD’s, said that the banned terrorist organisation has become far more sophisticated in search for the arsenals.
“It is pursuing parallel paths to acquiring weapons and forging alliances with groups that can offer resources and expertise. If Osama Bin Laden and his lieutenants had been interested in small-scale attacks, there is little doubt they could have done so now,” the report said, which was released by Harvard Kennedy School of Government’s Belfer Centre for Science and International Affairs.
