Islamabad, July 11 (IANS) Pakistani Foreign Office spokesperson Tehmina Janjua has been appointed the country’s next ambassador to Italy, a media report said Monday.
Janjua will also represent Pakistan at meetings of various international organisations headquartered in Rome, Urdu daily Jang reported, citing reliable sources.
She will also handle matters relating to the Vatican but will not be the ambassador to the Holy See, the paper said.
According to the sources, Janjua’s new posting has been approved by Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, who currently holds charge of the foreign ministry.
Janjua’s replacement, as also the successor to the ministry’s Additional Secretary (Administration) Mohd Naaem Khan who has been appointed the new ambassador to Saudi Arabia, will be announced soon, the sources said.
