Pakistani woman hurls acid on husband’s second wife
December 13th, 2010 - 8:44 pm ICT by IANSIslamabad, Dec 13 (IANS) Angered by her husband’s second marriage, a Pakistani woman threw acid on his new wife while she was asleep, a media report said Monday. Alisha was taken to a hospital with severe burns, while Bano Zaheer and her maid, who helped her in the attack, fled the house, the Express Tribune reported.
According to police, Zaheer Ahmed married Alisha two days ago without telling his first wife, who heard the news Friday.
Bano and her housemaid Samina visited Alisha’s house and threw acid on her while she was asleep. Hospital officials and doctors said Alisha’s face, hands and legs were severely burnt.
The two women escaped the scene after Alisha cried out for help. Ahmed’s parents stopped visiting their son after they learnt about his second marriage.
Meanwhile, police have launched a search for the two women attackers.
