Islamabad, Oct 31 (IANS) A provincial minister of Pakistan’s northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had a miraculous escape Monday when he was fired at by suspected Taliban militants, police said Monday.
Amjad Khan Afridi, minister for housing and physical planning, was travelling in his car when militants opened indiscriminate firing on his vehicle in Kohat district, Xinhua reported.
Police said the militants fired a volley of shots from the hills and one bullet struck the car’s windscreen. Afridi escaped unhurt.
The minister is a member of the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
No group claimed responsibility for the attack.
A Taliban group led by Tariq Afridi is active in the area and the militants regularly launch attacks on security forces and political leaders, officials said.
