Peshawar, Jan 25 (IANS) A court here Monday granted anticipatory bail to Pakistani Interior Minister Rehman Malik in a 15-year-old case against him for traveling abroad without a passport.
Malik appeared before Additional Sessions Judge Fakhar Zaman Marwat and submitted a bail application that was accepted, Online news agency reported.

Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had registered a case against Malik 15 years ago for travelling abroad without a passport.

Malik told reporters after the court hearing that he was implicated in a false case by the then chairman of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Saif-ur Rehman. He said that he would appear in court whenever he is summoned.

The NAB is Pakistan’s anti-corruption watchdog.
