Islamabad, Feb 20 (IANS) Pakistani Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar Sunday left for Britain for a two-day official visit, media reports said.

During her trip, Khar is expected to meet her British counterpart William Hague and other senior officials and will hold talks on bilateral matters, Xinhua reported citing Geo News Urdu.

She is being accompanied by Foreign Office spokesman Abdul Basit.

The talks will focus on the security situation in South Asia, particularly in Afghanistan, the report said.

“During the meeting with the British foreign secretary, the two sides will discuss various facets of the enhanced strategic dialogue framework,” a Foreign Office source said.

“The two sides will focus on issues of mutual interest, Afghanistan situation, pullout of British troops, the war on terror, drone attacks on Pakistan and other regional issues,” the source added.

The foreign minister will also seek London’s help in stopping US drone strikes in Pakistani tribal areas, sources told Xinhua.

Khar is also slated to address a political think-tank in London and deliver a speech at the Oxford University at the invitation of the Oxford University Pakistan Society, officials said.

Earlier this month, Hague told the parliament: “Pakistan has a crucial role and much to gain from improved stability in Afghanistan, it already suffers more casualties from terrorism than any other country in the world.”
