Pakistan supports Afghan-led reconciliation

Islamabad, June 28 (IANS) Pakistan sincerely desires peace in Afghanistan and supports an Afghan-led reconciliation, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has said.
“Pakistan sincerely desires peace and stability in the region to ensure development and prosperity,” Gilani told Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir here Monday.
“It is in this context that Pakistan supports the Afghan-led reconciliation peace process,” the Associated Press of Pakistan quoted him as saying.
Gilani said Pakistan’s efforts should be to create a conducive environment for negotiations leading to a situation acceptable to Pakistan, Afghanistan and the US.
The US decision to pull out of Afghanistan has led to stepped up interest in a negotiated end to the Afghan conflict.
