Pakistan rights groups to rally against Hindu killings
November 10th, 2011 - 5:43 pm ICT by IANSIslamabad, Nov 10 (IANS) Civil society and human rights organisations of Pakistan will stage a rally Monday in Hyderabad city of Sindh province in protest against the killing of four Hindus earlier this week.
Four people, including three Hindu doctors, were reported killed near Shikarpur town in Pakistan’s southern Sindh province Monday.
Condemning the brutal murder of Hindus in Shikarpur, the civil society and human rights organisations announced they would stage “Fill the Besant Hall Road against Religious Intolerance” rally in front of the Theosophical Society’s interior Sindh centre in Hyderabad Nov 14, the Daily Times reported.
The killings seem to be a targeted action which could be a potent threat to the composite and harmonious environment of Sindh, said the human rights organisations in a statement while expressing concern over increasing tolerance in the province.
Victimisation and harassment of Hindus through kidnapping, murders and forced conversions since last decade in Sindh have left no other option to the minority community except that of migrating from Pakistan, the statement said.
They have demanded that the provincial and federal governments should ensure security to the minorities in Pakistan, particularly in Sindh, which houses a larger number of Hindus, Christians, Zoroastrians, Bahais and others.
The US has asked Pakistan to bring to justice those involved in gunning down the Hindus in Sindh province and condemned all violence directed at religious, ethnic and other minorities.
