Pakistan names three-member panel to probe 26/11

Islamabad, Jan 15 (IANS) Pakistan has named a three-member panel, to be headed by a senior official of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), to probe the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, media reports said Thursday.The commission will be headed by Additional Director General FIA, Javed Iqbal, and comprises Khalid Qureshi and Liaquat Ali Khan, Geo TV reported.

According to sources, the option of sending the commission to India would also be considered if the need arises.

The scope of the functioning and authority of the high level commission has been defined.

India has blamed the Mumbai attacks, in which 170 people were killed including 26 foreigners, on “elements” based in Pakistan and provided Islamabad with a dossier containing evidence.
