Pakistan must stop using terrorism as policy instrument: India

New Delhi, July 27 (IANS) A day after a website released classified American military information pointing to clear links between Pakistani spy agency ISI and the Afghan Taliban, India Tuesday said that Islamabad must stop “sponsorship of terrorism” as an “instrument of policy”.
“We have seen media reports about classified information, supposedly from US government sources, put out in public domain, on support to terrorism by ISI-Pakistan’s military intelligence agency,” said external affairs ministry spokesperson Vishnu Prakash in the first official reaction to the information published by WikiLeaks.
He asserted that “sponsorship of terrorism, as an instrument of policy, is wholly condemnable and must cease forthwith.”
“The utilization of territory under Pakistan’s control to provide sanctuaries for recruiting and sustaining terrorist groups, and to direct terrorist activity against neighbors, must stop if our region is to attain its full potential for peaceful development,” Prakash added.
On Monday, media outlets in the US, Britain and Germany had released information provided by WikiLeaks, an online portal, which related to the US’ war against terror in Afghanistan. The huge trove of 91,000 documents, several of which are related to the ISI directing attacks of the Taliban not just on Indian targets in Afghanistan, but also on coalition soldiers.
