Lahore, July 13 (IANS) The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the officials of the national selection committee are mired in a new controversy over the selection of controversial fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar in the list for 30 probables for the Champions Trophy. According to newspaper The News, the national selection committee sent a list of 30 players to the PCB, which also included the name of the fast Rawalipindi-based bowler.

The PCB did not approve the list due to inclusion of Shoaib and some other players, and called the national selection committee for a meeting here Monday.

Besides, the board issued a fresh notice to Shoaib demanding that he pay the fine of Rs. 7 million (Pakistani) latest by July 14.

The meeting of the national selection committee will be held at the PCB headquarters here Monday morning and the high officials of the board will also attend the meeting.

If Shoaib agrees to pay the fine, his name will be included in the list of the probables but he has not contacted the board so far.

A spokesman of the board said that the PCB asked the International Cricket Council (ICC) to extend the deadline to July 15 and therefore the announcement of the team would be made Tuesday if it could not be made Monday.
