Islamabad, June 18 (IANS) Pakistan has acceded to the International Convention for the Suppression of the Financing of Terrorism, an official said.
“With the accession to this convention, Pakistan is now party to 11 international conventions against terrorism. This demonstrates our abiding commitment to eliminate the scourge of terrorism,” Online news agency quoted the official as saying.
The UN General Assembly adopted the convention Dec 15, 1997, requiring nations around the world to take steps to prevent and counter the financing of terrorism.
At present, 167 nations are party to the convention.
