Yousuf Raza Gilani Islamabad, Mar 13(ANI): The relationship between Pakistan and the United States cannot be held hostage because of the Raymond Davis case, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has said.

CIA contractor Davis was arrested by police after shooting dead 22-year-old Faizan Haider and 26-year-old Faheem Shamshad on January 27 in Lahore, allegedly in self-defence.

Speaking to media persons after examining the “Peace 2011″ Pak Naval exercises, Gilani said that the US had promised to provide the coalition support fund, and that the Davis case should not affect the ‘friendly strategic relationship’ between both nations.

“Pakistan is paying a heavy price in the war against terrorism but still wants to maintain good relations with the United States,” the Dawn quoted Gilani, as saying.

Talking about the covert CIA drone campaign, he said the drone attacks are not helpful in the war on terror, and that efforts are being made to convince the United States on this matter.

“Drone attacks have negative affect on war against terrorism,” Gilani maintained.(ANI)
