Pak to screen new Hollywood, Bollywood movies on Eid
September 11th, 2010 - 5:42 pm ICT by ANIIslamabad, Sept 11 (ANI): As Pakistan celebrates Eid, it has emerged that most of the cinema halls in the country will be screening more of new Hollywood and Bollywood movies rather than Lollywood ones.
The country’s leading cinemas including Plaza at Fatima Jinnah Road, DHA, Cine Star in Township, Cine Gold in Bahria Town and Sozo World will be showing Hollywood movie, ‘The Expendables’.
However, Cine Star, Cine Gold and DHA will also play another English movie titled, ‘Inception’ for second show.
Moreover an Indian production titled, ‘We Are Family’ and sole Pakistani movie ‘Wohti Le Key Jani Ay’ will also be screened on the auspicious day of Eidul Fitr.
Some cinemas located at Abbot Road including Gulistan, Prince and Metropole are screening Lollywood movies like ‘Wohti Le Key Jani Ay’ and ‘Haseeno Ki Barat’.
Another cinema in Walled City located inside Taxali Gate, Tarannum Cinema is playing ‘Lado Rani’ while Capital Cinema will display a Pakistani movie ‘707′.
Renowned film promoter and exhibitor and director of DHA Cinema Nadeem Mandviwala said that due to collapse of Lollywood in the country it was a general perception that national film promoters and exhibitors were forced to screen those movies, which had special attraction for the general viewers.
“The trend to display English and Indian movies is countrywide and not just confined to the capital city of Lahore which is known for its excellent film industry in past, but now it seemed just a chapter of past,” the Nation quoted him as saying. (ANI)
