Islamabad, Mar 24(ANI): Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani have directed the Foreign Ministry to record a protest at all international forums against the desecration of the Holy Quran in Florida by controversial US pastor Terry Jones and develop a categorical stance in this connection, according to government sources.

A unanimous resolution would be passed against the desecration of Holy Quran during the next meeting of the National Assembly and the Senate, which would be tabled by Law Minister Babar Awan after consultation with the Religious Affairs Ministry, The News quoted sources, as saying.

On Wednesday, Pakistan witnessed protest rallies in its various cities against the desecration of the Holy Quran by Jones.

Ahl-e-Sunnat wal Jamaat, Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan (JUP) and Islamic Students Federation took out protest processions in Islamabad.

The protestors burnt the effigy of the US pastor, and demanded the Islamic countries to boycott the United States politically.

Meanwhile, Bishop of Lahore Right Reverend Dr Alexander John Malik also condemned the desecration of Holy Quran by Jones, and said that the pastor committed an ugly and abhorrent act that only promoted hatred in society, The Nation reported.

He said that such acts were in flagrant contradiction to the teaching of Christianity, and were the manifestations of sick minds busy in spreading hatred, bigotry and unease in the society. (ANI)
