Islamabad, Dec 3 (ANI): Pakistan’s provincial Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has reportedly given a green signal for holding of trials against arrested Taliban commanders and other operatives of banned Tehrik-e-Nifaz-e-Shariat Muhammadi (TNSM) in January next year.
According to The Nation, 37 cases have been filed against them.
The paper quoted sources in the law department as saying that a challan for holding trial against arrested militants, according to the First Information Reports (FIRs) filed against them in local police stations of Malakand, Swat, Buner, Shangla and other districts, has been completed.
According to the challan note, trial against TNSM Chief Muhammadi would be held in five cases, while his son Sufi Mohammad would be tried in three cases. Besides, the commander of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Muslim Khan, would be put to trial in five cases, and other arrested Taliban leaders would be tried in four cases each, the paper said.
The trial will be held in anti-terrorism court in Swat and Darul Qaza Swat next year, it added.
All the accused have been booked under charges of terrorism, including killing of police officials, kidnapping, damaging government property and other such terror acts. The cases against them have been registered under all Anti-Terrorism Acts, the paper added. (ANI)
