Pak to continue moral, diplomatic support to Kashmiris
October 10th, 2010 - 6:01 pm ICT by ANIIslamabad, Oct 10 (ANI): Pakistan Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani has said that his government would continue to extend moral, diplomatic and political support to the people of Kashmir, in their struggle for self-determination.
During his meeting with the Chairman of Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Gilani reportedly urged the international community to take notice of the human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir and to pressurise the Indian government to put an end to the painful impulses of the Kashmiri people.
According to the Daily Times, he further stated that long lasting peace and stability in South Asia could be achieved if a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute, in line with the UN’s resolutions and aspirations of the Kashmiri people, is established.
Rehman praised Gilani on the committee’s meeting with leadership of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, and added that the delegation had thrown light on the indigenous and people-led nature of the recent uprising in Jammu and Kashmir against the security forces.
Rehman also said that the Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir had assured the Hurriyat delegation of Pakistan its complete support and solidarity with the Kashmiri people. (ANI)
