Pak Taliban claims responsibility for Peshawar blastAugust 13th, 2008 - 5:19 am ICT by ANI
Islamabad, Aug. 12 (ANI): Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) today claimed responsibility for the bomb blast that targeted an air force truck in Peshawar, killing at least 13 people.
Maulvi Omer, spokesman for the TTP, said that the blast was the response to the military operation in northwestern region, the Geo TV reported.
A powerful remote control bomb targeting an air force truck was detonated in Peshawar, capital of North West Frontier Province (NWFP), killing at least 13 persons and injuring 11 others on Tuesday morning.
The blast occurred when a Pakistan Air Force (PAF) truck was heading to a base near Peshawar.
Pakistans security force is now carrying out military operations against Taliban militants in the NWFPs Swat valley and Bajaur tribal agency.
Reports said that the security forces on Tuesday killed 10 more militants in its one-week long operation in Pakistans tribal areas bordering Afghanistan.
The TTP spokesman also threatened to launch more attacks against the Pakistan Army if the military operation was not stopped. (ANI)
