Pak seeks ‘concrete Indian steps’ to bolster re-engagement

Islamabad, Sep 9(ANI): Pakistan has urged Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh to back up his call for re-engagement with concrete measures to address issues of concern between the two countries.
“Pakistan is ready for sustained and meaningful dialogue on all issues and it is for India to revisit its position on issues such as Jammu and Kashmir, peace and security and Siachen,” The Dawn quoted Abdul Basit, Foreign Office spokesman, as saying.
Basit was reacting to Singh’s call for continuing the process of engagement with Pakistan.
“We have decided to engage with Pakistan and I hope Qureshi accepts the invitation to come to India,” Singh had said in New Delhi.
Earlier, Indian External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna had also invited Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi to visit Delhi.
Although there was officially no reply to the invitation, Qureshi had made acceptance of the invitation conditional to India’s willingness to talk on ‘full range’ of issues that have hit bilateral relations for decades. (ANI)
