Lahore, Mar 10(ANI): The terror network behind the Faisalabad blast has been traced and two more suspects have been arrested, but they have no connection with the ‘Punjabi Taliban’, Pakistan’s Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Javed Iqbal has said.
Over two dozen people were killed and more that a hundred injured in a bomb explosion at a compressed natural gas (CNG) filling station situated near an intelligence agency’s office in the Pakistani city of Faisalabad on Tuesday.
Addressing the passing-out parade of the 7th intermediate course at Police Training School in Chung, Iqbal said that the information collected from the one suspect arrested on the spot (Usman) led to the arrest of two of his associates working in a group to the target offices of secret agencies in Pakistan.
All three suspects were arrested from the area surrounding the blast site in Faisalabad, The Nation quoted the IGP, as saying.
He confirmed that the arrested terrorists were linked to a banned organisation, but added that it was premature to say about the identity of the organisation, as further investigation from arrested suspects was underway and the terror group’s name would be made public after completing the investigation.
Iqbal also said the law enforcement agencies are taking effective steps to eradicate terrorism from the province, but the general public should also play their collective role and cooperate with the police to curb the menace.
The provincial police chief further advised the jawans not to misuse their power and to always behave well with the people who come to them for help. The kind and decent behaviour of jawans will make people trust them and have faith in them, he added. (ANI)
