Lahore, Feb 23(ANI): Pakistan Punjab police officers were reportedly denied access to the United States Embassy premises in Lahore to ‘arrest’ American citizens wanted in a ‘murder’ case.

Pakistani citizen- Ibadul Rehman- was crushed to death on January 27 by a vehicle allegedly occupied by colleagues of double murder-accused Raymond Davis, who had earlier shot dead two motorcyclists.

According to the Dawn, a team headed by Civil Lines SP Captain (retired) Liaquat Ali Malik went to the consulate office on Tuesday morning on information that some foreigners, wanted by police in the ‘murder’ of Rehman, were hiding there.

Malik reportedly told the consulate’s regional security officer Agha Tanveer Husain about the FIR registered with the Lytton Road police, and alleged involvement of American citizens and the vehicle used by them in the killing of the Pakistani youth.

The officials were however not allowed to enter the consulate following which the officers left without acquiring any information.

Earlier, the Lahore High Court had ordered provincial authorities to impound the vehicle and arrest the accused.

It was also reported that the car driver as well another US official involved in the incident are no more in Pakistan, in fact they are back on American soil.

Authorities in the Punjab province have said that they sent five letters to the US Embassy, asking it to hand over the driver and that vehicle, but have received no response so far.

It is unclear when the driver and his passenger were spirited out of Pakistan, but a senior US official said that it happened soon after the shooting incident. (ANI)
