The Supreme Court (SC) took suo moto notice of a report aired on Dunya News about liquor being smuggled in containers meant for carrying ammunition, food and other necessities for NATO forces in Afghanistan.
The report also divulged the embezzlement of billions of rupees worth of customs money besides the disappearance of NATO lorries, sources told Dunya News.
Earlier, a three-member bench, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry, had ordered the Federal Tax Mohtasib to submit the investigation report within a month. However, the Mohtasib failed to present the report in November and asked for extension of another month.
