Pak National Assembly wakes up to grim situation in Balochistan
December 30th, 2010 - 5:28 pm ICT by ANIIslamabad, Dec 30 (ANI): Pakistan’s National Assembly members have asked the government to take practical steps to tackle the grim situation in Balochistan, and remove the grievances of the Baloch people.
PML-N legislator Lt General (retd) Abdul Qadir Baloch kicked off the debate on Balochistan, wondering why his motions for a debate on the grim situation in the province had gone unnoticed.
The News quoted Qadir, as saying that the Baloch people wanted to remain with Pakistan, but they were being pushed to the wall.
Some legislators reminded the House that the situation in Balochistan had deteriorated to such an extent that it was no longer possible to play the national anthem in schools.
Qadir wondered why those who attacked the chief minister and governor of Balochistan were not arrested so far. “No action was taken against those who kidnapped the Baloch students,” he lamented.
Some time ago, a parliamentary committee was formed under Nadeem Afzal Gondal over an incident in Khuzdar, but so far no report had been presented to parliament, he added.
In his reply, Gondal said he had presented the report of the incident involving the murder of a Baloch leader to the National Assembly and also to Interior Minister Rehman Malik.
“I am not afraid of any one and I have submitted my report in which it was proved that a serving colonel killed the Baloch leader,” he added. (ANI)
