Islamabad, Feb 19 (ANI): Pakistan media on Thursday said it would protest against the murder of Geo TV journalist Musa Khan Khel, who was killed while covering a rally organized by extremist group Tehreek-e-Nifaz-e-Shariat Muhammadi (TNSM) in Swat.
The media vowed to stand up to the Talibans life threatening acts.
According to Geo TV, Musa Khans body was peppered with 32 bullet.
Geo News executive editor Hamid Mir made it clear that such brutal acts would not deter journalists from reporting the truth.
We will continue to be in our profession. I will go back to Swat. If they want to kill me, they can. I will carry only a pen. We have hundreds of Musa Khan’’s ready to sacrifice their lives. If one Musa Khan is killed, hundreds will be born, Mir said.
Meanwhile, NWFP Information Minister Iftikhar Hussain has vowed to provide safety and security to reporters in the restive region.
I backed the medias fight against terror. We mourn the death of Khan Khel in Swat, Hussain said.
Mir informed that several journalists had also been killed in the valley while performing their duties.
Musa Khan was shot dead by unidentified gunmen on Wednesday in the Matta area of Swat Valley in the North West Frontier Province (NWFP).
Musa was reporting on the contentious peace agreement between the Taliban and the Pakistani government. (ANI)
