Pak intelligence agencies warn of terror strike on US Embassy in Islamabad
May 26th, 2010 - 12:24 pm ICT by ANILahore, May 26 (ANI): Pakistan intelligence agencies have warned that militants may use an explosives laden vehicle to target the US Embassy in Islamabad.
According to an intelligence report, two stolen vehicles, one of an army officer and the other owned by the Pakistan Navy, are likely to be used in the terror attack.
A black Toyota Corolla of Brigadier Qaseer Tareen was stolen from Lahore a few days back and a Suzuki Bolan of the Pakistan Navy was stolen from Rawalpindi, and these vehicles could be used in a terror strike, The Daily Times reports.
Earlier, intelligence agencies had issued a warning which said that the Al-Qaeda is planning to target the US Embassy in Islamabad.
According to intelligence inputs, the terror outfit may use three bulletproof vehicles, which have entered Pakistan from Afghanistan, for carrying out the attack.
All law enforcement and security authorities have been alerted regarding the threat.
Following the report, the Punjab Home Department has directed all concerned agencies to beef up security in and around all important establishments and government buildings in the province.
Security officials have also been asked to maintain a tight vigil and scan all vehicles entering or leaving the province from each entry and exit point. (ANI)
