Pak Govt to reappoint Deedar Hussain as NAB Chairman
March 11th, 2011 - 5:17 pm ICT by ANIIslamabad, Mar 11(ANI): The Pakistan Government has decided to reappoint Justice (retired) Deedar Hussain Shah as National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman after the Supreme Court ordered him to relinquish the charge on Thursday.
Since the apex court declared Hussain’s appointment as illegal and ultra vires to the Constitution, the government has decided to fulfil all legal as well as constitutional requirements for the NAB chief’s appointment this time, The Nation reports.
According to sources, Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani has moved a summary proposal for the appointment of Hussain as NAB Chairman through proper channel.
President Asif Ali Zardari is most likely to sign the summary soon, the sources added.
They said Gilani had convened an emergent and confidential meeting immediately after the court issued its order.
The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) is observing a protest day on Friday (today) against the Supreme Court’s verdict annulling the appointment of Hussain. (ANI)
