Pak Govt. issues notification for retirement of 24 judgesDecember 4th, 2007 - 8:14 pm ICT by admin
Islamabad, Dec 4 (ANI): The incumbent administration in Pakistan on Tuesday issued a notification paving the way for the retirement of 24 judges of different High Courts in the country who had not taken oath under the Provincial Constitutional Order (PCO) imposed by President Pervez Musharraf on November 3.
The Federal Ministry of Law has issued the new notification.
Those judges who stand retired as per the new notification include 12 judges of the Sindh High Court (SHC), 10 judges of the Lahore High Court (LHC) and two judges of Peshawar High Court (PHC).
Musharraf had imposed emergency and had invoked PCO in the country leading to removal of many sitting judges of the High Courts and the Supreme Court, including the then Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary. (ANI)
