Islamabad, Feb 24(ANI): The Pakistan Government is in serious consultations with international legal experts on the Raymond Davis case, Foreign Office spokesperson Tehmina Janjua has said.

Double-murder accused US diplomat Raymond Davis had confessed to shooting dead two men in Lahore on January 27, allegedly in self-defence.

Talking to Geo News in Tokyo, Janjua said that the government was consulting with international legal experts in relation to immunity for Davis, who is currently being tried in a Pakistan court.

She said that the Pakistan Government would be provided a report pertaining to diplomatic immunity for Raymond Davis as late as March 14.

The ultimate decision on the fate of Davis would be made by LHC and the government would respect court’s judgment, Janjua added.

Davis is in a high-security detention centre in Lahore and is expected to stay there until a court hearing next month, despite repeated demands by the US to release him immediately on the grounds of diplomatic immunity. (ANI)
