Pak Govt has given nazims 10 million rupees to rig elections

Lahore, Dec 15 (ANI): PPP Senator Enver Baig has said that nazims in Punjab were now free to rig the polls with the support of the caretaker government, since the Punjab Governor had given each nazim Rs 10 million to be spent on the election campaigns of their relatives.
“It would be impossible to hold free and fair elections without the suspension of the local government system,” Baig told Geo TV.
Supporting his partys decision to contest the polls, he said that President Pervez Musharraf would not need to rig the elections had the PPP and PML-N decided to boycott them.
Musharraf had decided to rig the elections only because he needed a two-thirds majority in Parliament to get indemnity for the imposition of emergency, the Daily Times quoted Baig, as saying. (ANI)
