Pak Foreign Minister Qureshi’s son served as Kerry’s intern

October 21st, 2009 - 12:58 pm ICT by ANI Tell a Friend -

Washington, Oct.21 (ANI): Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi’s son, Zain H. Qureshi, worked as an intern under Senator John Kerry, one of the main sponsors of the controversial Kerry Lugar bill.

A spokesperson for the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, on conditions of anonymity, revealed that Qureshi’s son served as an intern in Kerry’s personal Senate office.

A business card on Pakistani websites describes Zain Qureshi as a legislative fellow in Kerry’s Senate office, The Politico reports.

The association between Qureshi’s son and Kerry, who is seen as the main culprit behind sewing the stern clauses with the US aid, has raised questions over the Pakistan Foreign Minister’s intentions.

Reports in the Pakistani media are portraying this high-profile connection as the reason behind the widespread discontent and suspicion surrounding the just approved Kerry Lugar bill.

Both the political quarters and the country’s military have already raised questions over Foreign Minister Qureshi and Pakistan’s Ambassador to the US Husain Haqqani’s intentions. (ANI)
