Pak forces kill 19 more militants in Khyber Agency
November 28th, 2009 - 2:08 pm ICT by ANIIslamabad, Nov.28 (ANI): Pakistan security forces have claimed making further inroads in the Khyber Agency, killing 19 more militants in the ongoing offensive in the region.
A statement issued by the Frontier Corps said the troops have regained control of Mamanri, Mamanri, Shedakhel and Merikhel areas adjoining Orakzai Agency after clearing the region, The Dawn reports.
The claims could not be verified independently as media is not allowed in the region, but local residents said troops have destroyed several extremist hideouts and militant positions.
Meanwhile, tribal elders in Khyber Agency have appealed the government to halt the operation and relax curfew, so that people could celebrate Eid freely. (ANI)
