Pak envoy to UK clarifies on his remarks on Mumbai terror attacks

London, Feb 2 (ANI): Pakistans High Commissioner to UK Wajid Shamsul Hasan has clarified that a remark attributed to him regarding Pakistans probe into the Mumbai terrorist attacks, was peculative.

After reports that Pakistani investigators had found the attacks were not planned on Pakistani soil, there were insinuations that they were planned in the UK, he said.

Such stories are merely speculative. Official findings have been completed and would be submitted soon to the president, the prime minister and the cabinet, The News quoted Hasan, as saying.

Earlier, Hassan said that Pakistani soil was not used in masterminding the Mumbai carnage, continuing Pakistans flip-flop of comments on the November 2008 terror attacks on Indias financial hub.

According to The News, in what seems to be the first ever official comment over its probe into the attacks, based on the dossier provided by India, Hasssan said the initial findings of the Pakistani investigators indicate that Mumbai attacks were planned outside its territory.

Pakistani territory was not used so far as the investigators have made their conclusions. It could have been some other place, the paper quoted Hassan, as saying.

They (investigators) categorically informed me that UK was not involved. Pak was not involved. Its territories were not used for planning this operation, he added. (ANI)
