Pak court bars AQ Khan from speaking about nuclear programme
October 9th, 2010 - 6:41 pm ICT by ANILahore, Oct 9(ANI): The Lahore High Court (LHC) has ordered nuclear scientist Dr. A.Q. Khan against making any statements about the country’s nuclear programme or about security issues.
Justice Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry announced the decision while disposing off a petition to provide freedom of movement to the nuclear scientist, The Daily Times reports.
The court also directed the federal government to comply with its earlier order in letter and spirit regarding the provision of security and free movement of Khan.
Khan had earlier sent an application saying that the government was ignoring the court’s order.
During the hearing, Khan’s counsel Syed Ali Zafar said that the government was blatantly misinterpreting the court’s earlier order by not giving the petitioner freedom of speech and denying access to visitors.
He also requested the judge to issue new instructions to the government to stop the “mischief of his continued harassment”. (ANI)
