Islamabad, Feb. 1 (ANI): Sunday’s ODI match between Australia and Pakistan would be remembered for all the wrong reasons. First, Pakistani captain Shahid Afridi was caught biting on a ball and then Pakistani batsman Khalid Latif was tackled to the ground by a Perth spectator.

Latif expressed deep concern about the tackling incident.

“It shouldn’t be happening. It just should not be happening. It is not that big a deal to me because I am OK. I am not hurt. It was nothing too shocking, but it was still not what you want to have happening in a game of cricket,” the Sydney Morning Herald Quoted him, as saying.

“I think the fans who go should remember why they go and they should not spoil it for the players and the other people at the ground. People should be at the game to support and enjoy the game. But it doesn’t make me angry, nothing like that because I am OK,” he added.

PCB chief Ijaz Butt said Pakistan would consider lodging a complaint with the International Cricket Council after receiving a report from team management.

“I have never seen anything like that before. I am not sure why a person would want to hit Khalid. I am certain the local authorities will be looking at the incident, and we will consider what course to take once we have received a report,” he said.

Australian fast bowler Clint McKay said: “I thought it was a disgrace. To touch one of their players is just not on. You can’t have that.”

‘It’s the worst thing that can happen on a cricket ground and is something you don’t expect to see. For it to happen twice in one night is pretty unusual,” he added. (ANI)
