Swat, June 22(ANI): Reopening the pending cases against detained Tanzim Nifaz Shariat-e-Muhammadi (TNSM) chief, Maulana Sufi Muhammad, an anti-terrorism court in Pakistan’s Swat District has summoned him along with his nine associates to appear before it on June 29.
The court has reopened cases registered against Sufi Muhammad under the anti-terrorism laws since 1994, The News reports.
He was first arrested when he returned from Afghanistan, where he had gone to fight the US-led coalition forces in 2001.
However, following a peace agreement with the Maulana Fazlullah-led militants, the provincial government had released him in February 2009.
When the peace agreement was later scrapped and military operation Rah-e-Rast launched against the Swati Taliban, he was re-arrested by the security forces and shifted to a prison in Peshawar. (ANI)
